Questions & Answers
When did you first know you wanted to be a writer?
For me, it happened rather late…and gradually. I had given up a very high-powered, high stress job in the city and was taking a career break. I have always enjoyed writing (I did English at university) so I thought I would try to write a few feature articles and see if I could sell them. I was extremely lucky in that I was able to sell my first published piece to the Sunday Times Style Magazine, and after that began writing semi regularly for them. I was a full time journalist for about a year before my sister Louise suggested I should try and write a novel. So, like many things in my life, the writing sort of evolved out of a combination of circumstance, accident and good luck.
